James was a loving son and brother and a wonderful father. It was clear to everyone just how much he loved his little girl Lily, and Alex. He wanted to take care of them, provide for them, and I greatly respected and admired how he rose to the challenge of parenthood at such a young age, when most people would try to escape that kind of responsibility. James didn’t, he had principles, integrity and capacity for love beyond his years. He was a funny, charming and cheeky guy, even as a little kid he had the funniest retorts and enjoyed banter with his parents, siblings and his extended family. The tremendous sadness and grief felt by those that knew and loved him is, in a way, a measure of the happiness, love and joy he gave during his too-short life. The world is a colder and darker place without his light.
